Introducing Voice Notes — Now Your Gift Can Sound Like You

Around the time the idea for BuyFlowers was coming together, it did not take too long before we realised our customers wanted to attach a bit of themselves to the gifts they sent to their loved ones. It was a no-brainer — so with every order you send out today, we give you a generous box to write whatever message you want to send to your loved ones, and we deliver a handwritten note to them.

You've been able to send notes to your loved ones since Day 1 on BuyFlowers, and one of our goals this year was to bring our customers closer to those they gift. To form closer bonds and increase the value of each gift you send out or they receive. Not in terms of increasing prices or adding more items to our inventory — that might work for us — but YOU are the most important piece of this puzzle.

We kept thinking of how to form longer-lasting memories, and to focus on creating intimacy not only around the cost of gift items but also by increasing the sentimental value attached to each gift.

Why Voice?

From today, we'll be releasing a new Voice feature on buyflowers.ng and on the mobile app. After conducting our due diligence in research, we decided to lean on yet another form of digital media to help facilitate your gifting habits.

We went down this route because:

1. you know how voice notes work

   You already record your voice every day on WhatsApp, Snapchat, and most social media applications you use with your friends. We're leveraging this existing experience to improve something we already do quite well — gifting.

2. your voice is recognisable

   Your handwritten note tells them it's you, but your voice cements the intention and the sentiment behind it. You can fake a note, or an emotion behind text. It's a bit harder to do it behind your own voice. They're your person — they know what you sound like. Use it to your advantage.

3. this lives forever

   They can go back to it whenever they want — to listen to what you said after your first date, or the inside joke about her boss after you gifted her for that promotion she worked so hard for. They'll have access to it anytime, forever.

How to Send a Voice Note

It's straightforward:

1. Go to buyflowers.ng or use our mobile app to place an order.
2. At checkout, choose the "Digital Note" option and you'll be presented with two options: Text Note or Voice Note.
3. Choose the Voice Note option, record your message for up to 30 seconds, and fill in the name and email of the recipient.
4. Save your note, place your order, and let us handle the rest.

What the Recipient Gets

Once your order is delivered, we automatically send the recipient a link — straight to their email — that reveals the voice note accompanying their gift. No app needed on their end. They tap the link, and they hear you.

It's the moment the flowers arrive and your voice arrives with them. Two things at once — the physical gift and the personal touch they'll come back to long after the petals have dried.
